Had a guy round this afternoon wanting a rack for his LC 350 yam.
spent an hour explaining all the pro's and cons on get second hand racks and grab rails.
what looks to be minor rust etc but once it is dipped in acid bath it will look
10 times worse, I have three racks here re-chromed that didn't look to bad.
certainly open his eyes.
time came to the cost!
I quoted £70/£80 he balked at that!
I said why do you think I need your bike for a full day ,its not a 5 minute job.
and there's a cost of chroming to which I have no control.
and he said he seen then on ebay for £30 to £50.
then go and buy the bugger then then coz you will not be getting it off me for that price.
and I stated that one offs I normally charge £100.....

gee he said he cannot get one all ways getting beaten by other bidders.
no wonder the daft bugger never wins.
the last time I looked on ebay for one of them went for £70 and it was in need of rechroming.
me think he was trying to pull a fast one.
if he comes back he is in for a shock!!!

John, you are trying to convince the dead. Thats like farting against thunder, you will not make an impression on him.
70 quid is pittance for a one off-rack, hes bonkers if he thinks he can get a decent one with good chrome for 30 quid.

Mate- you're going to put yourself into an early grave worring about blokes like that. It's not worth it.

who's worrying??
to be honest I dont give 2 hoofs. them days are long gone.
I've been doing grab rails etc for nearly 10 years now ,
I should know buy now what these buggers are like. at the end of the day its their loss not mine.
I offered it to him for £70/£80 as I was going to make two.
and see how much the other sells for.
my charge for one offs start at £100! that should sort the weeds out there and then.
I've just bought a rack from germany for £130 inc postage.
just to make a jig up and make my own.
there are only 3 styles. one Kawasaki own (about £100)ideal if your doing some bread toast  the other two 1@£109.99, the other £114.99 postage £15.the 1st one only good enough for a sandwich box. the one I just bought is a bit better but not very big for carry a lot of gear like a tent etc.
I am sure I can make a bigger one and still cheaper, chrome or powder coat.
