Triple digits

Post by Coyote »

Hhhoooooot!. 105 yesterday and 108 today. Supposed to be triple digits all week long. Thank goodness there is no mandatory helmet law in Oklahoma. White helmet = brains medium rare. Black helmet = brains medium well. No helmet, though not safe = sunburned scalp. There is just no way around this intense heat.
And no, it's not dry heat like Arizona. Oklahoma gets plenty of moisture up sweeping from the gulf, so there is lots of humidity as well.
So this is how it works here. Step outside and within 30 seconds you are uncomfortable. Within one minute, you are beginning to sweat. Within 5 minutes you are sweating profusely. All this occurs as you are standing still. I hate this time of year. Makes me wish I was back in NJ. Mid to upper 80's daytime and mid to upper 60's at night.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Took basic training at Fort Sill, OK in the summer of 76. Sucked. And then the winter there was no better for AIT.
