Why some parts become unavailable

You may not be able to purchase an item simply because its on the CPSIA (lead ban) listing for "junior use" motorcycles in the USA.
The case in point here, is the reason why I have not been able to get a cable ferrule for my RE5 oil pump lever.
Even though its made of brass, its somehow considered toxic since it also fits some junior sized bikes, and so it got listed as a banned lead based item.
As of today the dealers parts manager I order items from has contacted American Suzuki and they are willing to release the part if a VIN is supplied showing its for an adult motorcycle used by adults only.
I emailed the VIN to him and the information has been forwarded to the American Suzuki "parts coordination team", now its a case of seeing how this all unfolds.

Good news, and I'm impressed by the quick turnaround reply from American Suzuki. The 'team' have replied and its a go for two of the ferrules.

 and I am relieved, he and I have been chasing this little part for close to two months now.
It also fits all the two stroke bikes with a cable going to the oil pump lever, so you know that effects practically all the Sundial members bikes.

did you have to supply them a notarized letter stating you wont let any children chew or eat them ???

imo a silly law..they should test the junk coming out of china ( kids toys ) made w lead based stuff..
NOT MOTORCYCLE parts..

i promise not to let my child chew on these pistons...

Ian its now 16292-03112, I'll know more when I physically get it in my hands, but its the same dimensions as the one for all the oil pump levers using a cable/ferrule system.
