Why some parts become unavailable

You may not be able to purchase an item simply because its on the CPSIA (lead ban) listing for "junior use" motorcycles in the USA.
The case in point here, is the reason why I have not been able to get a cable ferrule for my RE5 oil pump lever.
Even though its made of brass, its somehow considered toxic since it also fits some junior sized bikes, and so it got listed as a banned lead based item.
As of today the dealers parts manager I order items from has contacted American Suzuki and they are willing to release the part if a VIN is supplied showing its for an adult motorcycle used by adults only.
I emailed the VIN to him and the information has been forwarded to the American Suzuki "parts coordination team", now its a case of seeing how this all unfolds.
