Ebay Feedback

Post by Herman T »

I bought and paid for a GT750 dragbike on ebay the beginning of March (see the custom section on here). The bike is still at the sellers place. My fault on that, not his. The seller says I can keep the bike there as long as I want, even into the summer if necessary as visitors to his shop are finding it interesting seeing it there. He has been very helpful with anything that I need and ask of him. This past Sunday a friend of mine went to look over the bike and gave me the thumbs up on the purchase saying that he felt I got a really good deal on the bike, that it was built very well and has an impressive frame, was complete and that I will be happy with it when I get it.

My question is, should I leave the seller positive feedback for the transaction now before I have the bike in my possession? I probably won't have the bike before the feedback period runs out. He got a negative feedback before our auction which I saw before bidding and didn't take into consideration when deciding to bid as it looked like feedback from a whiner instead of a deserved negative. I would like to give the seller a positive to help out with his future sales. He has had other positives since the negative also. I just don't want to do anything that could possibly screw myself over. I doubt there will be any problem but who knows for sure.

My friend that went to visit the seller said that he is a really good guy and I should feel comfortable leaving the bike there for as long as is necessary. Any opinions?

My advice......hurry and go pick up YOUR bike ASAP, and don't tempt fate and provide the opportunity for a negative experience to develop from this positive deal.

Might be worth considering doing the paperwork now to take ownership of the bike, and getting an agreement that the seller will store the bike at his shop for something like $25 a month. This would help avoid some of the potential pitfalls, and compensate the seller for making sure your bike is still OK when you pick it up.

who cares about the feedback, just get your bike. if you can still leave feedback once you get, then great. If not, oh well.
by the way, why is it taking so long? if you haven't found a shipper yet, try uship.com

Feedback is the one thing ebayers consider important if nothing else, so get the bike home and leave your feedback asap.

I put up a listing on uship.com the day after I won the auction, hoping that if anyone bid they would be able to pick up the bike after it was paid for and released by the seller. The bike has to be shipped cross country from Washington state to NY.

I got 1 really good bid from a seller that had an enclosed trailer and great uship feedback. Only thing is, he wanted to pick up the bike before it was paid for. Another bidder had no feedback on uship and was going to put the bike in the back of a pickup truck, wasn't insured and was going to have the bike in his possession for about 3 weeks. I didn't feel comfortable with that shipper.

Since the bike has been paid for, I'm getting bids that are ridiculous. For example $1600. The one bidder that I liked but didn't have the bike paid for yet was $475. For now, I'm going to wait for a reasonable bid. For $1600, I would fly there and bring it back in a rental truck myself for less total cost. If necessary, I will have a friend pick up the bike and keep it at his place.

If you have a friend nearby who can collect it and check it over and hold it for a while then by all means do so.
$1600.00 is a lot for what that shipper was proposing, no way would that be even begin to look reasonable.

Get full coverage insurance on the bike now then if the shipper does not have insurance you have a backup, I did this with uship just in case.

Yes, for a trip that far, go with Daily Direct....aka http://www.haulbikes.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have used them a couple times in the past, and have always been happy. Very professional operation. That's all they do is transport motorcycles, and they do it large scale. Big rigs with fancy enclosed trailers. Right around $600 or so max from one side of the country to the other. They're a bit expensive for short trips, but reasonable on the longer ones. Takes about 4 weeks or so for the bike to be delivered, but its fully insured while they have it.
