Just paid my home owners insurance. The house is valued at $200,000 + and the price was $1,287 for the year.
Got the bill for the 3 cars. 2010 Versa with full coverage, 2000 Explorer with full coverage and a beat up rusted out 1969 MG with liability coverage only. Total value of the lot would be around $20,000. The bill is $1,834!!!!
THAT FRIENDS MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.

+1
And while you might be burglarized, it's unlikely that someone will steal your house.

Yup, basically your house isn't a rolling liability, but you didn't specify if the price you paid was for 'house only' or 'house and contents' coverage.
Insurance coverage for vehicles in the US seems to have taken a turn for the worse in the last five years or so, or at least in southern Florida anyway.
Could it be linked to the ever rising price of new vehicles?, oh yes it is. Ask anyone if they ever though they would see the day when a pickup truck costs around $40.000
God help us all in a few years time, not to mention the next generation.

In 1993 had an all whel drive turbo Eagle Talon. My son was away at school in NM. I tried repeatedly to explain that he would not be driving it. They had to gall to say "when he comes home on break and I turn my back, he will take the car". Needless to say that REALLY chapped my ass. Premiums on the car were $900 every 3 months or $3,660 a year. And that was in 1993! Traded it in on a new Maxima in 9/93.
That was triple A. I assured them I would never darken their doorway again.

Hmmm.....those vehicle insurance prices are almost as bad as Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec......but I don't believe that OK has a government monopoly insurance, so I don't understand the high rates.
You're paying about 50% more than I pay for a 2008 Envoy (full coverage) and a 1996 Astro with PL & PD only.....but then I live in a bigger centre with about 3 times the population and, obviously, a higher accident rate. Doesn't make sense unless we Calgarians are more courteous drivers than Tulsans......wait.....
No, no....I took leave of my senses there for a minute....
Nope there's gotta be another reason why we have lower rates.
As to the house insurance, OK's not in an earthquake zone or prone to flooding....although the tornado occurrences MIGHT have something to do with higher rates.....and maybe the quickness of folks in the US to sue a homeowner if they trip on his front doorstep ??
My home and contents are valued somewhat higher than yours, Coyote, and yet I pay about half your premiums.
Maybe less tornadoes and lawsuits in Cowtown ??
The ways of insurance underwriters are not to be understood by us mere mortals, I'm afraid......(shakes his head sadly)
