Dont ever assume the factory always gets it right every time, many times they make mistakes, some a lot bigger than others. This case in point was found on my 1200 Bandit recently when I went to fit a new chain buffer and service the s/arm and linkage.
I had noticed when I got the bike in 08 that the 6mm bolt on the side of the swingarm had the intermediate stay on the chain buffer pulled backwards a lot but never gave it much thought as I knew it needed changing anyways, so it was probably out of shape being 12 years old.
When I took it all apart recently I went to the bolt and found out why it looked the way it did upon removal.
The factory drilled the hole about 1/2" more towards the rear of the s/arm. This was way off and not even close, fitting the new buffer onto the s/arm you could not even see the factory hole through the buffer stay mount.
Drilling a new 6mm hole, (with space between the old and new hole as it was that far off) got the issue solved and now its as it should be.
Maybe it was a Monday morning drilling incident or just a sake hangover from a hard weekend party :lol: :lol: :lol:

i recently bought my wife a gz250. a lot of the owners replace the 15 tooth sprocket with a 16 tooth as they are geared quite short.
as it is spending the winter in our sitting room i thought it was a great time to take care of it.
when i removed the nut i found the lockwasher had not been properly seated on the output shaft splines and crushed when the nut was installed. this is on a bike with .8 miles on it.
i hope that's the only Q.C. oversight on the bike.

Its just another one of those 'problems' but it does not give you total confidence to if the important items are assembled correctly. Its therefore best to do a complete check over of all torque values to minimize any issues.
That sprocket lock issue is not good to see at all.
