Gotta love the sense of humor.

I'm not a big fan of the way that legislation ended up either, but polls were interesting. The majority of peopled polled said they want it repealed and yet when asked about all the individual provisions, the same majority don't want the aspects of the bill repealed.

It's an interesting discussion to watch. If the majority want to keep the provisions, why do they want it repealed? The answer of course is politics.

Realistically it is far from perfect and personally I'd like to see a government run scheme for those who can't afford insurance. For example, a friend of ours just lost her job and she has pre-existing medical conditions. While she's looking for a new job she has no insurance because with no income, $1000 a month for insurance is not an option.

We have a friend who works in the carnivals and on a good week he makes a couple of hundred bucks and during the winter he collects cans. He will do anything (legal) to work and there's no way he will ever be able to afford health insurance.

I don't understand the logic that says that ALL Americans should be able to make their own arrangements. That's fine for people with good jobs, but for an increasing percentage of Americans that's not an option.

So I agree 100% that the current legislation is flawed and I'm not convinced it will do anything to reduce the crippling cost of health insurance, but if the Repobilcans want to get back in next time around they have to come up with changes that make sense. Tearing down this albeit imperfect law doesn't help anyone. When are they planning to introduce their first piece of legislation that increases jobs, or reduces the real cost of health insurance. They cannot stay with a policy of NO.

I believe that Americans voted Obama in because they want to see a real change and leadership. They voted the same way in 2010 as a vote against the status quo. We are all looking for some leadership from both sides of the aisle to move us forwards - not backwards. We can't roll teh clock back to the fifties or even to the days of Clinton when Americans were spending more than any time in history.

We are where we are and have to come up with plans to get out of this mess and the world has changed, so must we.

Thank you sir.

The country faces some huge challenges including the fact that modern manufacturing needs less people and an aging population that is living longer than ever.

What i want to see is leadership on issues like how we manage that process of more people retiring and living longer. It's not about scrapping Social Security or doubling the taxes to remain the same or asking us all to manage our own finances. One simple solution will not fit all in this case.

So we need a comprehensive plan that builds on what we have and changes it as necessary to make it work for the next 20 or 50 years. Any solution will require compromises on old ideology in order to work for the good of most if not all Americans.

Which party would like to go down in history as the one that solved that little issue. We do not have time for the old party bickering. there are real issues to resolve and the time to resolve them is now. I think that is the change that America voted for and that is the leadership we seek.

You folks are in the midst of a HUGE dilemma on the whole healthcare issue......and the whole personal overspending issue.
It's my belief that those two issues are inextricably intertwined and the healthcare thing cannot be solved until the personal overspending thing is corrected.

Why do people not understand that you cannot spend more than you earn ??......As individuals and as a nation...... :|

Rick,

That's exactly right. Politically teh health care debate is a problem for both parties. The fact is that Big Pharma and heatlth care companies are making big money and they are spending it on both sides. The enxt issue is that those companies are charging what the market will currently allow and cutting teh cost means cutting their income and employment.

Again that's a political issue that makes it hard for anyone in DC to talk about it meaningfully. We certainly need as a society to start having some of those discussions and there are political commentators who get paid big Dollars to stop that happening.

Like most problems, the fix comes from both ends at once. The guys at the top get the message when the rest of start talking to each other and start working out what we want done.
