Fred if you feel you must leave then so be it, BUT its not really necessary, I would prefer that you stay.
The thing is moderators and admins try to be lenient and hope persons using the board will consider good judgment in their postings.
Sometimes things can become personal and/or tense but its always hoped persons will work these issues out.
If people need to be policed to the limit, the forum will be so tightly managed it wont be freely opinionated, but tightly regimented instead.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Allan,

I agree that it's shame to see Fred go. I have never met Fred and don't know him, but it's too bad that it came to this.

Your comments about keeping too tight a grip on posts is valid, but the other perspective is that posts like the last couple should not be allowed to stay on the board.

I don't care who started it or who hit who first, that was unacceptable behavior.

We all say things from time to time when we are annoyed that we later would like to retract, but the internet does not allow us to do that.

In this case, that thread should IMHO be locked and deleted and moderators should moderate. It isn't always easy, and that's why it's so important.

I don't get it when someone ups and goes because the board is too unfocussed for them. Why complain? The board is free, it is made up of individuals, most of whom were here first, it is a chat room basically and all sorts of crap is discussed freely. No-one need be criticised for anything they contribute. If you don't like it don't read the so-called off topic posts and stick to the specific forums. Also no-one forces anyone to visit the board or contribute. Chucking a paddy and taking your bat and ball isn't going to make an ounce of difference. This a community of people with different interests and over the years we have shared each others tragedies, grief, pain and also our motorcycle experiences. I'm proud to be a member of this community.

How I could forget this? I still remember when I was almost outta here (I mean this world) and someone on this board noted my absence, or when I was hospitalized and someone other sent me far from beyond a bike magazine ....I was surprised, really, to find out that people never met....well, you know what I mean, and yes, I'm proud to be a member of this community too.
