So Who's Racing (or used to race) a T500?

Post by Frank »

I know Eric does (still?) - anyone else? I'm collecting parts and am seriously considering building a land-speed bike out of my running street bike and two spare bikes (I picked up another one this afternoon - free/gratis!) I'm interested in picking brains. Basically it's a lonngggg drag race.....

thanks

Frank,

Sorry I haven't answered your e-mail. What I need to know is what mods can you do to the engine in the class you want to run. This will help out with max hp and revs.

Hi Eric,

Thanks - I'm rereading the rule book now to try to determine that. I'll be in touch.

I'm still racing my T500. I took 2009 off, but will be back racing the AHRMA circuit in 2010.

Good to hear! I don't know anything about AHRMA - what class do you run in? Any mods allowed? The class I'm looking at for LSR is production i.e. only internal mods are allowed. I'm trying to learn what works.

Hi Frank,

It was nigh on 30 years ago but I had a great club season in 1980 racing a Seeley TR500. In those days it was full-on GP500 spec. machines, in fact it was the arrival on the club grid of multiple RG500/TZ500s in 1981 that took the fun away for me. The Seeley went from a capable top 5 finisher to mid pack (nothing to do with better riders :D )

Image Ahh.... where does ones youth dissappear too

It handled like a silken dream, got my knee down on that in 1980 but decided I should wait for knee sliders to be invented before I did it again :D

Sold to keep up with the mortgage payments when interests rates were 14% in the mid 80s. It's loss still brings tears to my eyes

Looks wicked fully faired too. Like the paint job :D

At the Thundersprint earlier this year there were quite a few TR500 replicas, one with no end cans and it sounded pure evil.

I miss the cackle of an unsilenced stroker.
