Heres a pic of how my RE5 grab rail turned out after i cut and altered the mounting ears, re-affixed them and then cleaned up all my areas of work.
The final process was to have it chrome plated the good old fashioned way of copper then nickel then chrome.

Thanks John, yes it came out quite well on this re fabrication job. Im not sure how the builder got the shock ears figured out originally but theres no way this could have ever fit.
I cut off about a half inch on each end of the tubing and then rotated the ears and shortened them as well.
I could have made new ears but i wanted to retain the little 'S' in the circle that you can see on the left ear.

Great job, Allan. It looks like you REALLY cleaned up those welds. That alone will give you another 5 MPH on the top end.
