Crank shaft color

I wonder why it is every GT750 crank i see new or used has 1 crank flywheel shiney and one not ?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suzuki-G ... ccessories

Good question Dave, but they are all like that as far as I know. Well at least the 6 I have had recently have all been that way.

The wheels that have the shiny finish are the inner wheels without shafts.

The three wheels with shafts, ie both ends plus third from the left in the middle, are all dark, so maybe it's a heat treat effect or maybe they are made from a slightly different material.

Possibly they were manufactured by a different supplier and assembled at Suzuki.

I can't give you the WHY, just the WHAT or the WHERE

I think you're on the right track with the heat-treat thing, TZ.....but that's just a guess on my part, too. It'd be interesting to do a hardness test on each type of wheel.
