Very good reading and photos John, everythings on a larger scale for sure. I like the first pic, theres a Red Atkinson parked there.

I want to see the machines that made the machines they made the engines with!!!

It's amazing to see the way things were done, before all the robotics and CAD software.

Yep, shipbuilding certainly works on a much larger scale than WE are used to.
Interesting to see that the ships' crankshafts were built-up.....just like a stroker's.
Also interesting to see are pics of steam locomotive builders' erecting plants.
There are some big azz machines and tooling, etc, in those places. Not quite as big as the shipyard stuff but big enough. I, unfortunately, have no links to offer for such pics. I only have some magazines with the pics in 'em. I'm sure Google will come up with something for those interested.
