About time

About time I introduce myself.
I've been lurking on the site for some time. It's been very helpful.
I appreciate the effort that goes into keeping the riff-raff out.

I've been working off and on restoring a '74 GT380 for the last 4.5 years.
The bike sat outside in a field for who knows how many years. Very rusty and crunchy.
Just about ready to re-install the engine. I've yet to deal with the gas tank, instruments, and exhaust.

I'm 63 and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Home of HVC Cycle and Kawasaki. I currently ride a '01 Suzuki Bandit.
First bike in my teens was a '72 Honda CL350. Had a minor run-in with car pull out in front of me.
Lost my enthusiasm for a long time. Bought the Bandit about 12 years ago. Been riding ever since.

I've done a frame off mechanical resto of a KZ550 ltd that I purchased from by brother.
Didn't keep it very long. Not a big fan of the custom style.

I've also done a mechanical resto of a '78 KZ650 that was born in Lincoln.
Sold the 650 to my brother with the caveat if he ever sells it I get first dibs.

Welcome, Mitch.
380s are great little bikes and most parts are still available.

Love the orange KZ650. Had the same bike in light blue. Solid, dependable bike that took me through a crazy time in my life.

My T500 is a revisit of my past. I've toyed with the idea of restoring the right KZ650, once I find it.

I'm always on the lookout for another early KZ650. This one was a bit of a mess when I got it. Still runs great.
