I need to replace the spring seal in my project engine water pump , does anyone know if the seals can still be purchased from Suzuki or if not has anyone cross matched the seal to a standard water pump spring seal ?

The stainless seat part was really stuck on the shaft so in the process of pressing the shaft out the carbon ring broke and the other pump i had handy didnt have any seal at all . I just may have another case with a pump still in it and i will check tomorrow

Ah well, I guess you'll have to fit an electric water pump and get rid of the tacho and pump drive. I see a high output alternator in your future

Dave. I don't know if the spring seal for the buffalo was ever available separately, but the seal for the RE5 was. Part no. 17470-31010. They look to be the same. Don't quote me though. If you get in a bind, I have a few spares. Cheers.

Dave,
I bought a repair kit off a guy in the UK for that Blue A I restored a couple of years ago and it included the usual water/oil seal and a replacement for the graphite seal made of teflon.
I seem to recall the same unit on the web - maybe at G&Gt spares in the Netherlands.

You could also try Reiner in Germany as he has a lot of GT750 bits and pieces as well as reproduction parts and kits. His email is
GTReiner1@aol.com.

Reiner's kit has the teflon instead of graphite. The one I rebuilt using his kit didn't seal, but that could've been my fault.

As I have mentioned before, I searched and searched a while back for these seals. I found a company (also in China) that would make them. I sent my contact one that I had and he said no prob but I had to order 2000 of them!
Thinking on this some more these seals must be available thru other applications. I know I have seen them on appliances like dishwashers or dryers.
If anyone finds one please let us know, I have 3 waterpumps sitting in a box all needing this seal.

Yeap it didn't seal for me either.Had to cut notches in the inner Diameter to fit over the Pressed sheetmetal sleeve.I wound up buying a new pump in the long run.

Likewise I also had to cut the notches, and it did take a few runs before it sealed. It may have been better had I used a new sealing seat (part 17476-31000 - the metal plate that presses against the Teflon seal) rather than reusing the old one

. At any rate, it seems OK currently.
