to another country.
as you may know I'm about to buy this bike a T500.
already paid $500 by paypal.
they guy who was going to pay for it on my behalf has got all his money tied up in his next shipment.
so I've got another $2000 tp pay.
the question how secure is my payments by p/pal.
the bike wont be picked up till april.
not sure how long p/pal will honour refund should things go pear shape.
in other words should the guy decided to sell the bike and keep my money.
I thinking of asking him for his business address etc.
but this will not alter things should he do a runner.
is there some kind of security where I can start legal proceedings from across the pond.
I know it may seem far fetch but you never know.
any tip or advice is welcome.
sending money.....

Re: sending money.....
Whatever way you do it, there is a potential to get ripped off. You might get your money back through paypal, but it would be difficult to do so if it is several months after purchase. In my experience they like your claim to be made within 30 days of sale. If you want some protection, DON'T send your money as a "gift" to avoid extra charges. Send it as money for an item or service. They won't help you if your item never turns up, if you sent money as a "gift".
I would suggest, you only pay a deposit until you are ready to ship. Then request proof of shipping within so many days of paying the remainder. Make this a condition of sale. If after 2 weeks you have had no proof of shipping forwarded to you, you can raise a dispute case with them through paypal.
Good luck.

Re: sending money.....
I think Sportston's advice is good. The seller knows you're not messing with a depo of that size. I have bought lots of stuff from overseas and while I have never had an issue, I try to pay by credit card if possible, as there is a level of insurance on these transactions, whereas with debit cards, there isn't. I also think that paypal transactions are designed to be completed inside a month.
