Do the fork tubes from the GS 550L fit a GT 550? Both are 35mm.

Are they the same length?
I made a pair of mix and match forks from a 1978 GS400 fit my 1975 GT380. Same dimensions and almost identical. I would imagine the GS550 and GT550 forks would be equally similar.

Somewhere I once read that fork GS550L and GT550 are plag and play. I would like to be sure because I can buy occasionally in very good condition. Thanks for the information sportston.

Not being familiar with the GT550, a quick bit of applied google-foo shows them to also be center line axles.

GS550L forks are leading axle units and come with a right side disc caliper mount.

GS550E (1977 - 1982) are center line axles and a few inches shorter than GS550L units and probably the closer match to the GT550.

Gotcha. Thought you were looking at a complete fork swap.
