Blaster Bike

My 1978 XS500 Yamaha chassis with 1989 YZ250 wheels/brakes/suspension with a YFS200 Blaster quad engine. Ported,4mm stroker crank,1 mm over Wiseco, squish head,36mm TM flatslide,VForce4 reeds with billet manifold,RD 350 right side chamber. What a hoot to ride!

I like it! I've always said that xs500 tank is an excellent choice for custom builds.

This is a cool bike Jim, I agree with Johnu that is an awesome tank. i have an xs400 but it has the later rounder tank. I wish it had the earlier squarer tank similar to the one on your bike.

Did you build this pipe as well?

Glad you like it. The pipe is a DG for an RD350.Bolted right on with no modifications and makes great power from 3000 up to 10,000.

Of course i see now that you have right in the first post that it is the right chamber from an rd350. That's great that it works well on this setup, and that mixing and matching parts like that can turn out very well!

Very nice and daring project.
That radial head is so sweet...
Believing it's within your capabilities, why not doing away with the extra metal on the frame front lower part, maybe adding a bolt-on skid plate?
