Sadly the people in the video are probably much better in answering questions about the Jersy Shore tv show.

P.S. If you haven't guessed yet, the pic is from the Vienna zoo.

Allan this brings up a point on History lessons.
I'm not sure what they teach in the rest of Canada but here in Ontario they teach squat on Canadian History.
For example a friends lad had to do a paper on the War of 1812..he did a very nice piece must say.
The teacher and I'm not kidding didn't know who Issac Brock was.
Sadly most kids can't even tell you who our First Prime Minister was or when Confederation occurred.
It upsets me even more when Grade 8's can't even tell you where British Columbia is.
Today's teaching has seriously gone wrong somewhere.
I remember in Grade 6 or so we had to know every province and territory PLUS every State.
We learned the history of the 1812 battle.
We learned the American History as well.
By the time we left Grade 8 we knew a lot.

Independence Day
Here I thought everyone knew this all over the World.

 Hi,here in Australia we had to be able to draw a MAP of the Country, including States & Territories just about blindfolded,in Primary School !!! These days the kids are taught at School that the Country was "Invaded" by the British, not "discovered" by Captain Cook ? & yes I know all about American Independence Day & the Civil War, because I was taught it at School. Education has gone to the "dogs" in Australia as well

Whats even more sad, is today a press of a button can tell you practically everything, back then in 'our time' you had to go to the library and look it up, IF the books you wanted were not out on loan already.

Sometimes I will get the odd American ask me "so do you all celebrate the 4th of July on the island"?? I say "oh yes we do" It comes right after the 3rd, so naturally its a day we get as well. You should see the look I get.

No country should isolate itself, as citizens you need to know whats going on around you and especially with your fellow neighbours.

So Ian, BC does not exist to some, well then they will definitely not know about the Social Credit Party and W.A.C Bennet. What a pity too as its an important part of BC history.
