I recall when we drove from Brisbane to Perth, that the Nullarbor was just a whole lot of empty - and yes the petrol was not cheap ! We took care to plan our stops ! 8)

Great pic, Ian. That reminds me of the occasional gas station you'd see on the prairies when you/I were younger.
The difference, though, is that on the Nullarbor, they're not kidding.
One of these days I really have to make it to Oz to see what it's all about.

Thanks ! I took that photo in 1987 as we were leaving Coolgardie, and on our way to Wave Rock. The tavern is near a place called Bullabulling in West Australia. I'm evidently not the only person who got a chuckle out of the signage - I see that there are now lots of photos of that tavern on the web, which incidentally first came into being that same year !

I expect we'll be heading back to Perth late February/March next year to visit family - I'll let you know what the gas/petrol prices are ! 8)

Ian, do you intend to look up our pal Muzza ?? He lives in a suburb/small town just outside of Perth. I'm sure he'd be glad to meet a Cowtowner and hear about the bike scene in our end of the world.

Gas prices are big talk at the moment around here. A recent drop in price has been welcomed but we identified the most expensive in NZ (prior to the drop) as $NZ 2.90 per litre.

We're getting a big break here today! $1.285/litre Canadian or about $4.75 a US gallon for regular 87 octane! But, we have a long weekend coming, Monday is a holiday! I wonder what will happen to the price on Friday!!! Any bets??
