Re: Just a quickie for newbies & spammers.
Just lucky I suppose, John. Or sad......
Or sumpink!
Actually, although it's a bit of a pain at times, I do get pleasure from stopping these cretins from spoiling other folk's pleasure, so the pleasure far outweighs the pain.
All I can say to finish though, is that if anyone sees anything a bit flaky, please report it quicksticks and we (the mod team) can kill it straight away.
Personally, I don't mention all the new 'potentials' with dodgy emails and I do check everything I can. I reckon that every new member should be approved by a moderator - watch this space.
Just for interest, I also mod the 2 stroke forum (UK based) and the VJMC forum - which tends to be quiet due to faceiron or whatever it's called.....
And attend Kettle Clinic (UK based again and for all Suzy two strokes and a few Suzy 'diesels' too!), and use to be on the GSX 1400 forum as well, but sold that some time ago. Cracking bike.
Message to newbies - please - please - do a quick intro as a first post.
Just Hi, name, general area you inhabit, and what biking experience you have. It's pointless asking for help and getting a technical reply if you know naff all about the subject in question and no-one knows which bit of a country you live in.
You might get a reply then..........

Re: Just a quickie for newbies & spammers.
Made it so that all new people who register have to be approved by a mod.
I know that will mean 'instant registration' is impossible for a newbie, but only for a few hours max, and it seems to have stopped the spammers anyway.
I do get on here a couple of times a day so the delay won't be too bad.

Re: Just a quickie for newbies & spammers.
I’ve approved several lately first thing in the morning only after careful review and if a specific known model bike is listed. Since Alan and I are in different parts of the world/ time zones, new regs can be approved in a most timely manner. Would like to see this site as active as I once heard it was.

1976 Suzuki GT750 (Maui Blue), 1972 Kawasaki H2 750 Mach IV (Candytone Blue), 1984 Yamaha RZ350 (KRR- Yellow/ Black).

Kudos to the both of you guys. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
A feature that I see on several of the other forums I frequent that I think would be cool to have here, if possible, is being able to add a "Like" or place a "Thumbs up" or a "Thank you" to a person's post. Just a friendly suggestion.

I don't think this Proboards type of forum supports 'likes' but you can always post a comment, it looks good on the thread posting numbers then too.
One thing that I notice quite a lot though. People register then never return, I can't understand this unless it's the 'instant' generation that expect things to happen immediately. The moderators aren't on here 24/7, so please be patient if an acknowledgement takes a few hours, or just come back 12 hours later - or same time next day and log in.

Re: Just a quickie for newbies & spammers.
Got it and thanks for responding to my response.
As for people coming and going.......perhaps, some of them are looking for specific info that they find before leaving or don't find and don't bother asking for it. The Instant Gratification issue could also be part of the problem.

vjf62720@zwoho.com and vjf62720@eoopy.com from hong kong (again) trying to register as rankboost and rankboost1, plus johnchen9699 - mcg32362@zwoho.com who says he's from oakland, but really from china.
There seems to be several who use the @eoopy and zwoho email addresses and they all get bounced and deleted.
