I'd prefer to go down to a 520 high performance chain and narrower sprockets and it would allow the sprocket to be thinned from the back and that would gain a little more spline engagement.
Richard ,i am going to be useing a 520 chain on the new build .
I would have done the same, but I already had Sandy Kosman make up my offset sprocket in 530. It was too expensive to do it twice.
I considered, taking the sprocket to a machine shop and have it machined down to 520 specs but I don't want to machine off the hardened surface.
Richard, I thought going to a 520 eliminated any need for offset. Those that have the 520 conversion should be able to confirm whether washers are required.
The standard, OEM 530 chain was approx 3/4" while the 530 o-ring came to 1" - it is that extra 1/8" on each side that caused the interference on the seal cover and screws, right?
What I was getting at was that I'd like to remove the spacer behind the sprocket to expose more spline area, but in fact there is no more splines hiding under the spacer.
I guess it really needs a new shaft as Paul suggested earlier.
I wonder if it's possible to grind those splines further up the shaft to get more bite and use a sprocket with a splined boss at the rear.
In reality, thousands of GT750s have been ridden for millions of miles without too many sprocket/shaft problems that we know about, but it doesn't look too good.
I guess, it comes down to fit a good shaft and a good sprocket and keep an eye on it.
I wonder what the NOVA or TR750 output shaft was like and if the TR750 chewed up shafts at an alarming rate.

All sprockets are not created equal - I had to get that little bit taken off using a flywheel surfacing machine. - Some tuff stuff and should easily hold up to 20,000 miles the chain will.
My cost was about $23 each including shipping.

Hey Gordon,
I really need to get my hands on one of these stepped sprockets.
I've sent an email to PHR but received no reply - do you have a spare sprocket or a direct contact?
