One more time a concerned four stroke rider asked if I was having motor issues when I filled up with gas, and then started the bike up and it smoked a bit when I pulled over to the curb. Once I explained, no it was supposed to do that, and that it was a 36 year old two stroke, it took me a half hour to finally get away from the guy.
He was on a three year old Harley. But I must say he had put over 40,000 on it during those three years so I had'ta respect him.

Yes, Kevin, I've met up with one or two of those types over the last 5 or 6 years......but they're VERY rare, in my experience......but then I don't hang around with that crowd so my "poll sample" is too small to be very accurate. Others may know differently.....

Not to hijack your thread Kevin but I thought I'd drop this little piece in as you were talking about Buffalos and people you encounter.
A 40,000 mile Harley? a lot do that sort of mileage, but its usually racked up on a trailer Rick,,LOL
Its been three years in a row for our summer excursions into the Rockies and i sort of wait in anticipation for when and how many people would recognize the Buffalo and have a chat about it.
This year there were no less than five people who approached me about the bike, and the story always follows suit.
However it was in a Tim Horton's on Vancouver island an elderly gentleman took me by surprise, we were sitting at a table one evening after setting up in a campground nearby and rode into town for a bite to eat.
With my helmet on the table and the bike parked right out front this person waited until Rick and i were finished eating and then struck up a conversation.
He knew a fair bit about the bikes and got the model year correct and so on, and soon after that we got up and left him sitting there.
It when I was riding away I caught a glimpse of him watching intensely as the bike went by the front windows of the restaurant.
If you have even seen a kid looking in the window of a bike store, this was such a moment.
