Cornering clearance?

The one thing reviewers criticized back in the day was the lack of cornering clearance for the GT550 and 750.
I was wondering if the Jemco expansion chambers give better cornering clearance than the OEM exhaust?
I was comparing the Jemco pipes to Omar's 3>1 pipes (www.omarsdtr.com/Ex550suz.html) because cornering would be important to my style of riding.
Horsepower vs clearance, anybody have an opinion? Let me know.

Unless you jack the back up considerably, the Jemco pipes give less cornering clearance than stock pipes. I have a friend in California that is going to do a set of pipes that tuck up well and will give great cornering clearance.

I have my Buffalo jacked up 1.5 inches, and I still drag the pipes ocassionally. By the way, any pipe you get from Omar's is made by Jemco, so cut out the middleman. Three-into-ones have great cornering clearance but they actually don't make as much power as the stock pipes.

John Easton (JEMCO) told me that he can still make GT750 race pipes. The right pipe is routed above the cases.

Thanks! Frustrating to know it won't be easy to get cornering clearance on a GT. :(

If you are not worried about speed bumps, you can get the pipe kit (unassembled) and weld it up for clearance yourself. I am going to have that done on mine. The center pipe will go lower and the the left and right will tuck inside the lower frame rails.

I am going to have mine tucked like this.

All the chamber pipes I've seen have a perfect circle cross section. :?:
Has anybody tested pipes with an oval cross section? The oval shape would provide more ground clearance.

Of course they will "work", but not at maximum efficiency. The pipe is basically a "speaker", that the reverse or baffle cone reverses the sound wave in the pipe to pack the charge back into the cylinder. A oval cone would lose some of it's directional wave.
