Got a bit "damp".

Post by jkevinlilly »

National weather service on Friday called for thunderstorms here Saturday, but not until after 10:00 pm. So I took off Friday afternoon, rode about 80 miles to a friend/co-workers place, enjoyed an evening of grilling/beer/backyard volleyball. Saturday morning we headed out on Pinky and his CBR 954 for a big loop through Southern WV, about 150 miles along rivers and windy mountain roads.

The national weather service lied!!!

Between about 4:30 and 7:00 we hit four seperate thunderstorms that dumped 1.5 inches of rain on us. At one point the rain was so heavy even the 4-wheelers had to slow down to 30mph. Can you say, "Saturated"??? I bet my leathers gained 25 lbs during the ride. And Pinky is now in severe need of a bath.

That ain't the first time Pinky's been wet. Lane's buddy from Calif. rode it all day in the rain at the Gap in '07 while everyone else was huddled up on the porch drinking beer!

Yes, he did. Ben doesn't give up easily, and Pinky never missed a lick!

Pinky still runs great in the rain.

I've had her out in the rain before, but nothing like this, it was a hell of a test for us both. I think she faired better than I. :D

The guy I was riding with didn't have it so good. He wearing a mesh jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes. I was in leather jacket, chaps, gloves and leather work boots. Which will still be drying out for a few days. :(

Suzanne and I got wet over the weekend. We only rode 125 miles, but it rained on us several times. I'm used to it, but it was a new experience for her. She took it like a pro!
