Hello fellow riders, a few years ago I happened to stumble on a estate sale where the person was a collector of classic bikes, the inheritors had sold his collection and parts. I had gotten there toward the end and there were a few boxes of parts they had found in the attic, the people there had no knowledge about motorcycle so I purchased the boxes, in one box was a set of Dixie finned engine covers ( points, clutch adjustment, starter and generator cover) for a Gt 750, these are in very good condition so I'm thinking about selling then to help fund another project. Does anyone know what these covers would be worth, I've never seen a complete set for sale just a cover here and there.

No idea - but pictures would help. You'll have to put them on a picture hosting site and link to them though as this site has limited capability to post pics directly.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: Rare Dixie Engine Covers
That’s a rare find to find a full set of those covers!
I have 3 of the 4 and have watched values on these over the past seven years or so. I’ve seen the 2 larger covers sell for $350-$400 EACH. I haven’t seen much of the other two list/ sell so I don’t know a proper value but if I were selling, I’d list the clutch round cover at $250 and the starter cover (very hard to find BTW) at $200-$250. The generator and ignition covers are being reproduced in Japan by sand cast and they are nice!
I’d list what you have as a full set as it should be worth more that way. I’d say selling the full set will definitely help you finance your next restoration.
If anyone knows the values for the same covers for an early Honda CB750, please let me know as I have a line on a couple at a really good price.

Re: Rare Dixie Engine Covers
I used to post picture through photo bucket but no longer use them, the picture from oldjapanesebikes are the same covers that I have, they look like they're new but could be used still in great shape. If anyone is interested and want pictures message me and I can send them to you.
I know the clutch and starter covers are very hard to find individually and I have seen the starter cover for sale maybe once in ten years so I will not be breaking this set up. Thanks for the info its a starting point.
