A rarity even by Suzuki collectors standards

Post by Suzsmokeyallan »

I have a bunch of copper print plates for 1960s Suzukis, these are ultra rare and very interesting items. The attention to detail on these plates is astounding. Depending on how you hold the plate to a light source they can look like a 3D image with colour when theres clearly none on them. Heres a small sample of the copper plates I have.

Allan, those are really interesting. They are reversed (mirror image), so I wonder what they were used for. Almost like printing plates, but for what purpose?

Cool though

Richard I'm also a bit baffled by the real intended use of these plates. They originally came in a pack glued to a card of which I have one such set still attached, model K10P.
I have a friend who owns a printing company so i'll need to ask him what process you need to use (type of ink etc) to get the desired print result.
I believe these could have been used for sales flyers, possibly for price cards, either way they are a very rare and unique piece of Suzuki history.
On the back there is some Japanese script running through the plates, which due to its pattern means they were stamped from a large sheet of copper.
