Awesome......been going for near on 30 years, and it still amazes me just the same. That on-bike footage at the end of the clip must send a shiver down any man's spine.
3 weeks tomorrow, and I shall be on my way !

Been there done that, sidecar TT 2003, 2004 as passenger, 2006, 2007 as driver, google me Colin Smith particularly "wet practice" 2007. Best memory is the first flying lap down Bray Hill

Not quite 150, speed trap at Sulby 134 and grandstand 125. Still scares the living day lights out of you at the top of bray hill though.

125 at the grandstand must be pushing towards 150 at the bottom? That's a bloody big hill.....even a Raleigh Wisp would do 100 down there.

I remember when some outfits were powered by 350 Yamahas, and I'm sure they timed them at the bottom close to 150.

Sulby straight is an ironic section for us non racers. There is no limit at Quarry bends, and once the road straightens into Sulby straight, the 30mph restriction starts. Makes little sense.

Whether the speed was 135 or 150, that's WAY too quick for me

I've just re-read Mick Grant's autobiog, which I would highly recommend. In 1976 his KR750 was clocked at 191mph on the drop to Brandish, which is incredible given the tyres and suspension at the time  :wth:

And while we're on the subject of sidecars, this video is always worth a watch: Billy Weston on a big-wheel methanol-burning 1951 Thunderbird outfit. I've had the pleasure of watching him in action at Mallory a couple of times, it's poetry the way he gets it drifting

Sulby straight is the fastest speed trap for sidecars top guys are just under 150 there. Mostly CBR600's R6's and Suzooks GSXR's. My 07 bike was CBR, revs to 16500 and was on the limiter in top down to Brandish

Well I have been, enjoyed, and returned since my last post in this thread. Yet another TT under my belt. This year's was one of the hottest I can remember...last week was a positive heat wave on the Island. The pre TT classic at Billown was very wet, and the first part of practice week was disrupted by bad weather, but by the first race the sun was out, and out it stayed until the day I came home, 3 days after the Senior race. With perfect conditions, race records tumbled and lap speeds over 130 were plentiful.
The racing was fantastic as ever.......if you have never been to a road race meeting, you should go to the TT. Aside from the sport, and the riding on the world's greatest road circuit, there is the beauty of the Island to enjoy as well........
