Going for a climb
This video was shown here already a while ago but I just came across it again and its good for another view. This sort of thing makes most people get squirmy or have tingly feet while watching it.

Re: Going for a climb
I'm not too clever with heights.....for me that is truly horrible. I doubt I could do that job for any amount of money.
I literally awoke in a cold sweat, the night after visiting the Chasms on the Isle of Man. There are huge unprotected cliffs there, with sheer drops to the sea below.

Re: Going for a climb
One thing you can't feel watching the video is the wind that is trying to tear you off the ladder.
Nope, not gonna catch me up there.

Re: Going for a climb
You raised a good point Articus but I cant see any wind blowing on the climber or swinging the tool bag. Look closely when hes at the very top, there is a moment at 7.20 when he actually lets go and is simply standing there before clamping the safety harness to the upper post mount.
I don't know about you guys but it makes me feel really weird when hes looking down or relying on one of those little climbing posts to pull up all of his weight.

Re: Going for a climb
Hights have never bothered me, but how fit would you have to be to climb the ladder all the way up there.

Re: Going for a climb
Well on this tower the elevator took them up to around 1600 ft, but yes this is definitely not a job for people lacking endurance.

That video has been around for a while now and I still have difficulty watching it all the way through. Makes me feel queasy just watching it.

Re: Going for a climb
Double ditto........
I watched the climbers at the Gourge du Verdonne, (probably spelled wrong), in the South of France...there's a slab of rock at the top, where you can shuffle to the edge on your belly and look down. The river below looks like a thin thread of blue, and you can watch the many climbers edging their way up below you. Anyone else been there?
That's bloody high !
Check this footpath out......apparently the miners built it to take a short cut over the mountain instead of around it.

and while we are looking at crazy places to go, check out Youtube for Hua Shan cliffside plank walk. (not for the squeamish !)
