Thank you for that, Cliff. That sheds a little more light on the subject.
So, basically, Shell is telling us Canucks to buy their premium fuel if we don't want ethanol in our vehicle(s). This is also the trend in the US as I noticed that kind of thing during my trip down there last February and March. This was especially noticeable in some states because some of the larger refiners' stations had a specific sticker on their premium pumps stating "No Ethanol In Our Whiz-Bang Premium Grade"....or words to that effect.
Sooooo.....we still have a choice in the Great White North, albeit a more costly choice.
I, for one, can live with that. Others may feel differently, however.....
My .02 worth....

Re: Real Gasoline
Hey that's goooooood news, because filling up with premium and no ethanol is way cheaper than buying fuel related parts repeatidly.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: Real Gasoline
Found more info about ethanol in the US.
Gas pump labeling requirements by state. I have not compared the state-by-state listings. You should check both.
anti-ethanol listing for pump labeling by state :

pro-ethanol listing for pump labeling by state, status as of 2007 (search for your state by its full name):
http://www.ethanol.org/pdf/contentmgmt/ ... _web-1.pdf
Need to join their group to get 2009 status from the pro-ethanol website.

Re: Real Gasoline
Thank you for that, jabcb.
It's interesting the owners of pre-2000 or so boat engines are, basically, in the same situation as us owners of old strokers. Most older boat engines are two strokes, so it makes sense.
That writeup from the Evinrude parts site is very informative, even if not so well done. The facts are there for all to see.
There seems to be serious problems with E10 usage in ANYTHING older than about 1995 or so.....and in some cases if the equipment is older than 2005.
Sooo.....I just won't be using it in anything I own......period. I have better things to do and more important things to spend money on than
fixing up/replacing stuff ruined by E10. End of story.
