14/43 is the same gearing as a 76 GT750, exactly what I use on my Calgary based Buffalo. I find it to be perfect for that bike and since the RE5 and buffalo share the same gearboxes, there should be no issues.
I cant just grab a 15 tooth GT sprocket because I don't have one and if I wanted one the closest place from the island to get it is in Florida. It would have to be ordered (a few days) and sent to me in the mail. (at least two weeks).

Re: Drive ratios between chain pitches
To add a little more fuel to the fire......if you think about how torque is applied to the countershaft sprocket from the centre of the countershaft out to the face of an individual drive tooth the length of that distance (the sprocket radius) is a lever. It would make sense sense to keep the length of that "lever" the same so that the "spool effect" would remain the same......hence keeping the same sprocket diameter regardless of chain pitch. The problem I have with this ratio is the very large size of the engine sprocket, go up too big in size and the 'spooling up' or higher gear acceleration will suffer.
There is a LOT of unseen physics and geometry at play here, gents.

Rick, you are absolutely right there. There's also the squat characteristics to consider. .............

I think we need someone with waaayyyyy more savvy than we have available on this subject.
Paging JA Moo !! Are you available for a little skull work ??
