Now bushfires

Post by muzza »

Just packing now to leave home if I have to.

20 homes gone in my suburb, bushfire out of control.

Just been a worrying few days with the cyclone and now bushfire here!

I won't be able to take my bikes and bits and billion old books if I have to go.

Will make old Suzis and Guzzis rarer still!!

Hope not, will break my heart.

Cross ya fingers I know mine are...

cheers

As soon as I heard "Perth" and "wildfire" in the same sentence on the news I thought of you, Muzza. My first thought was: "Oh, Oh....hopefully this is NOT in Muzza's area. He's been lucky before. I hope the luck sticks to him again."
Hopefully the fire will dodge you and your place AND the collection of bikes, bits and literature. The loss of all that stuff would be terrible.....but it's only stuff. It's far more important that YOU and yours be safe. Keep us posted when you can.

Sounds as if the worst is over - Muzza just posted a load of stuff on his web site as well as this map view. His place would be (I think) about an 1 1/4 inches to the right of the fire area shown. About 68 homes lost, but so far no loss of life. My uncle recently sold his place in Kelmscott and moved further into Perth - not sure his old place is still there now or not, as by the map its right in the fire area shown on the left side near Church St. Way too close for comfort.

Thanks for that, Ian.
Roleystone is where Muzza lives, IIRC, so it looks like he has dodged the whole thing.....but that's waaaayyyy closer than he'd like, I'm sure.
